Chime Facility
A chime zone is another programmable facility, similar to walk test facility, found on modern alarm control boxes. This is a zone which operates the system normally when set, but is programmed to give an added feature when the system is not set. The zone emits a short loud bleep or chirp when the zone is activated in the unset condition. The outside sounder does not sound. This can be used in a shop to act as an entry warning on the front entrance door etc
When it is opened the chime alerts the staff to a customer entering. The same facility can be used on a stockroom, rear exit or fire door, to alert staff to someone entering or leaving the zone during times when the system is unset.
In a private house a chime facility could be used on the rear door, garage door etc., to give warning of possible intruders, or visitors when it would not be possible or desirable to fully set the alarm system, especially a police calling system.
